Frank Lloyd Wright.

He born in 1867 in Wisconsin, United States, and died in 1959. He was not a member of the modern movement but he let us a legacy of 679 amazing buildings. Among them the house of the waterfall and the Guggenheim museum in New York. Frank was always carried away by his instincts and that put him in conflict with several people, among them the businessman who commissioned him the house of the waterfall. He told him: «I want you to live in the waterfall, not just look at it.». Nowadays is one of the most beautiful works in modern architecture.

Frank not only left his mark on architecture, but he also left his mark on the world of design. He designed the Coonley chair, one of the first tube chairs.

He said once: «The architect has to be a prophet … A prophet in the true term of the word … If he can’t see at least ten years ahead, don’t call him an architect.». If you think about it, you’ll realize that it makes sense. The main function of an architect is to design buildings. Buildings normally «live» between 100 and 150 years. We’re talking about a long period of time that exceeds 10 years. If you as an architect do not have that vision of how your building will be in 10, 20, 30 years, you are not a good architect. You have to know if the building will adapt to society, if it will physically hold, if it will not cause problems,…
